The Sam Houston Museum offers a variety of activities that change with the seasons!
Fall/Winter
Oct 1 - March 2

During this time of year we offer our hands-on programs. These include our popular "Work and Play on the Farm." Groups will be limited to fourth grade and higher. We can accommodate a maximum of 60 and minimum of 20 students per day. The cost is $4.00 per guest. Programs to choose from include: "Work and Play on the Farm," "Social Customs and Frontier Skills," and "One Room School and Recess." |
Spring

In the springtime the museum offers tours for large school groups. We can accommodate up to 150 guests, childern and adults total. Our Spring tours consist of a short video about Sam Houston, guided visits to each historic building, the Memorial Museum, and demonstrations. You may choose from several options. We offer hearth cooking, black powder, historic toys, blacksmithing, medicine, phrenology, and spinning.
The tours are limited to fourth grade and higher. The cost is $2 per guest plus $25 for each demonstration. Groups of 100 must have at least one demonstration. Groups of 120 or more must have at least two demonstrations.

The museum allows only 2 adults per 20 children during all field trips. Additional adults will be directed to alternate activities.

Early childhood and primary grade groups are welcome. Please call to schedule a date. These groups may feed the ducks and picnic at the pond or explore nature. After lunch they may tour the historic homes, Museum and exhibits.

Summer
May 30 - Oct 1

During the Summer the Museum offers guided tours of the historic buildings and the main museum at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. or by appointment. All are welcome. Tours by appointment are limited to 4th grade and older groups. |

- Choose several possible dates. We fill up fast so be sure to have an alternate date ready.
- Know how many will be coming and what time.
- Have contact information such as name, phone and address so that we can reach you later.
